Abstract
The events currently taking place in the South Caucasus have historical roots in their deep genesis. Regional processes in their manifestations demonstrate the contradictions between superpowers in the region, at the center of which are local ethnic residents and their vital interests. At the same time, the perception of contemporary events from the point of view of a correct study of historical realities acquires even greater significance. In modern civilizational processes, humanity finds itself in a unique position. Gradually developing and expanding military-political processes pose complex challenges for states, nations, and ethnic communities. In these circumstances, a comprehensive understanding of the situation and a comprehensive analysis become essential. It is also undeniable that patterns of human life are largely interconnected with the historical past. Studying this historical past and present and assessing events from this perspective acquires particular significance. As long as the Armenian people live and continue to live in their homeland, Armenia, and as long as they are threatened by enemies, there will be losses along the way, and the way to prevent these losses is an objective assessment of their own history and the transmission of this history to future generations. This article examines the situation of the Armenian people under Turkish-Persian rule in the Middle Ages. For the first time in historiography, a new theory and approaches to the origins of the Armenian Question are explored. Particular attention is given to questions such as which direction played a truly supporting role in the liberation of Armenia: Western European direction or the Russian factor. Today, understanding the underlying nature of this problem is of enormous regional and geopolitical significance. In conclusion, if we fail to learn from these momentous events of the past, overcoming everyday difficulties could become a serious challenge to the future of Armenians and the existence of the Republic of Armenia.
